Parable of the Fountain

God’s Peace to you all!  This week, we offer the Parable of the Fountain.  In this lesson we explore how to be in community with others who have different practices from our own.  As you listen, here are some questions to consider:

Have you ever felt judgmental towards others within your religious community, parish, or denomination because of their religious practices that are different from you own?

Have you ever felt judgmental towards others because of the fear you felt for your own faith in the presence of others of a different faith?

What is the difference between unity and uniformity?

Parable of the Briars

God’s Peace to you all!  This week, we offer the Parable of the Briars.  In this lesson we explore the journey to inner stillness, and the difficulty that lies in a road littered with past wounds.  As you listen, here are some questions to consider:

Can you remember a time when the fear of something was actually worse than actually facing the object of fear itself?

What wounds rise up in you when you sit in silence?

What would it take to accept and heal these wounds?

Can God’s presence within you help heal these wounds?

Parable of the Sand

God’s Peace to you all!  This week, as we continue our lessons through parables, we offer the Parable of the Sand.  In this lesson we explore the need for spiritual practice and consistency in that practice.  As you listen, here are some questions to consider:

How do you feel at the end of your usual practice, whether it is centering prayer, spiritual journaling, the rosary, or any other?

Do you notice a difference when you haven’t engaged your practice for a while?

What is getting in the way of engaging your practice each day?

Parable of the River

God’s Peace and blessings to you all!  This week, we are starting a series of lessons through parables that our Order has collected over the years.  To begin, we offer the Parable of the River.  As you listen, here are some questions to consider:

What tumult and torrents are you dealing with in your own life right now?

Imagining for a moment, what would it look like to be centered and still in the midst of that tumult?

What is getting in the way of being centered and still in the midst of all the noise of your life and daily work?
